CREATING AND RUNNING AN UNATTENDED BACKUP JOB

3. What two pieces of information do you have to supply to the Automated SystemRecovery Wizard?

Lesson Summary

The Automated System Recovery Wizard creates a system recover disk (on afloppy disk) that contains your hard drive configuration, and a backup of yourlocal system partition on tape or as a file.

To start the Automated System Recovery Wizard, you must enable the Advancedmode of the Backup Utility. Because the Automated System Recovery Wizardincludes a full backup, the process can take an hour or longer.

The system and software files are stored in %systemroot%\System32\config. Abackup copy is stored in the %systemroot%\repair folder, and this backup isrefreshed each time you back up the System State data on the computer. You canuse the Recovery Console to replace the current version of each file with thebacked up copy.
