Manage and troubleshoot drivers and driver signing.

Practice 1: Download updated drivers for one of the hardware devices and

install them. Try installing updated drivers from the Windows Update Web

site; also check the Web site of the hardware device manufacturer. Then, roll

back the driver to the previous version.

Practice 2: Download an updated driver for one of your hardware devices.

Notice the current driver version before the upgrade using Device Manager.

Next, install the updated driver. Restart your computer if necessary, and

launch System Restore. Windows XP should have automatically created a

restore point before you installed the driver. Restore to this point, and restart

your computer. Use Device Manager to verify that the driver version was

returned to the version before the update.

Important

For the following task, you should complete at least Practice 1. If you want

hands-on experience with every aspect of the exam and you have a test computer available,

complete Practice 2 as well.

Monitor and configure multiprocessor computers.

Practice 1: Run the Performance snap-in to view and analyze data relating to

the CPUs.

Practice 2: On a test computer, use Recovery Console to replace the hardware

abstraction layer (HAL) and kernel files with the original versions from the

Windows XP Professional CD-ROM.
