3.1.3.1. Test type items According to the researcher‟s statistics, there are 13 grammar points mentioned in the TOEIC 1, 2 course books. For the purpose of making advantage for the students practicing these grammar points, the author of the course books designed it with 11 test type items: multiple-choice, completion, error-recognition, transformation, gap fill, matching, addition, combination, game, dialogue and 35 writing. Among 11 test type items, the type item of multiple-choice and completion are applied in most points of grammar (see Table 3.1.2.1). Specifically, there are 11 grammar points in the total of 13 designed by multiple-choice and the same to completion. The frequency of recognition error and dialogue is relatively high: 9 grammar points applied recognition error and 7 ones for dialogue. And the low rate of frequency of test type items exists, such as game (5/11 grammar points), transformation (4/13), gap fill (3/11), matching (2/11), addition (1/11) and combination (1/11). In both TOEIC 1, 2 student‟s books and TOEIC 1, 2 work books, there are 9 exercises of dialogue, 5 exercises of game, 1 exercise of writing and 582 test items of the rest. Among them, the number of test items of completion is the highest, making up 49.08 % (293 test items in the total of 597). Following the type of completion is multiple-choice that makes up 23.79% (142 items). However, some test type items designed with the number of test items are extremely low, such as writing exercise making up 0.17 % (1 exercise), 0.84 % (5 test items) for addition and the same for both combination and game.
