CONFIGURE SYNCHRONIZATION MANAGER

2. When she is running the exhibit booth at tradeshows, Iris’ attention is often

diverted, and she is worried that she cannot always keep an eye on her notebook

computer. The computer contains trade secrets that she does not want to see com-

promised. Iris wants to secure the files on her computer, even if the computer is

stolen. Can you configure encryption on her notebook computer? If so, what pre-

cautions should you take?

Iris can encrypt files on the notebook computer as long as the hard disk is formatted with

NTFS. Iris should designate an EFS Recovery Agent that can recover the files if she is unable to.

Iris should also be sure to lock her console when she is not using the computer, or configure

her screensaver to require a password when the computer is activated. If the computer is con-

figured to go to standby mode when it is idle, Iris should require a password to bring the com-

puter out of standby.
