Southampton is one of the top five cities in Britain which enjoys good economic growth. It has more

than 40 live music venues and 550 restaurants and pubs. It is one of the greenest cities in the UK. If

you are keen on watching live music, Southampton is an ideal place. It is famous for its three music

venues in the city center namely The Brook, The Talking Heads, and the Joiners. There are also

performances by local musicians hosted by many pubs and cafes around Southampton. The annual

Music in the City Festival is a celebration of music in Southampton. You can also see plays,

performances, comedians and musicians at The Mayflower, The Guildhall, The Point, and the

Nuffield Theatre which is supported by the University of Southampton and located at Highfield

Campus.

Art lovers can enjoy a range of classic art and modern touring exhibitions at the Southampton City

Art Gallery and the John Hansard Gallery. Ad an historic medieval city, Southampton is also blessed

with a number of museums and unique protected buildings including the Grade I listed Tudor House

Museum, the Sea City Museum, Solent Sky Museum, and the significant Medieval Merchant’s House

which is the oldest house of its kind to survive intact from the time it was built in 1290.
