Using the Backup Utility

Restore tab These settings affect what happens when the file to restore is identicalto an existing file. Figure 20-5 shows the available settings; the default setting isselected.

The settings that you select depend on how often you back up, howquickly you want to restore, and how much storage space you have. The backuptypes are Normal (which is the default), Copy, Differential, Incremental, and Daily.Backup Log tab These settings affect the amount of information that is included inthe backup log. The default setting is Summary, which logs key operations such asloading the tape, starting the backup, or failing to open a file. Two additional set-tings are available: Detailed, which logs all information, including the names ofthe files and folders; and None, which turns off logging.Exclude Files tab These settings affect which files are excluded from backup jobs.You can modify some default settings in the Backup Or Restore Wizard for a specificbackup job. For example, the default backup type is normal, but you can change it toanother backup type in the Backup Or Restore Wizard. However, the next time thatyou run the Backup Or Restore Wizard, the default backup type (normal) is selected.
