Woman: This week, we meet Liam Nguyen who has spent 7 years in Australia. He’ll share with you

practical tips for studying abroad in Australia. Hi Liam!

Man: Hi, Rachel. Hello everyone.

Woman: Thank you for coming, Liam. Now, first question, a lot of students feel homesick when they

are abroad. Did you miss your home, too?

Man: Of course, Rachel. It’s a normal feeling, isn’t it? When I feel lonely, I just go out and take a walk,

make some new friends, join the gym or any positive communities around the area.

Woman: Many students spend most of their time with people from their home country. Do you think it’s

good to do so?

Man: Well, I don’t think it’s bad anyway … When we are new to a place, we are often hungry for

connections and comfort … But I’d suggest you make friends with local people, too. That way,

you’ll stay open-minded and embrace the new culture you’re living in.

Woman: Good advice, Liam. How about working part-time in Australia?

Many overseas students don’t know their work rights. Make sure you check your visa to know

what you are allowed to do, how many hours you can work per week. You can find out more

information about work rights via this address www.fairwork.gov.au.

Woman: Thanks a lot for your tips, Liam.
