A. Kipling was the first writer who expressed the faith and national pride, the grandeur of the British Empire

in the transitional period of the twentieth century. Born in Bombay, India in 1863, Kipling was taken to England to

be educated at the age of six. However, the age of seventeen he returned to India and became journalist, a poet and

later is chiefly known as a novelist. His works greatly deal with sense of organization, faith and national pride and

imperialism. His style is familiar, almost conservational and rhythmic. He won the 1907 Nobel Prize for literature.
