Ping the computer’s own IP address to confirm that the routing table contains the

appropriate entries.

A properly configured routing table contains an entry with the computer’s own IP

address as the network destination and the loopback address as the gateway the

system should use to reach that destination. If this test fails (after you have suc­

cessfully pinged the loopback address), this entry in the routing table is missing or

incorrect. You should check the routing table carefully at this point, because other

important entries might also be missing or incorrect.
