The police are looking for someone who broke into a house in Thornton and attacked a

woman and her two children. They think he was a man about thirty. He broke into the

house at ten o’clock and tried to steal some money. When the woman heard someone in

the house, she tried to phone the police. But the man pulled the telephone wires from the

wall. Then he hit the woman over the head with a heavy stick. The children began to cry

loudly when they saw their mother on the floor, but unfortunately no one could hear their

cries.

The police want to talk to anyone at all who was near the house last night. They feel

sure that someone saw the man.
