Vietnamese celebrate the New Year ( Tet ) on the first three days of the

January according to the Lunar calendar. It is a time for families to clean and

decorate their homes, and make traditional specical food such as sticky rice cakes.

Family members who live apart try to be togeher at Tet. On the first day of Tet they

often offer delicious fruit and food to their ancestors. They also visit pagodas,

temples and their relatives or friends. Children are given lucky money which

represents the adults

good wishes to them. There are a lot of traditional games and

contests at Tet such as rice-cooking, buffalo-finghting etc. these are really

interesting activities. People are playing and enjoying themselves very much on

this vacation.
