Group Name Group FunctionBackup Operators The members of this group have user rights to back up
and restore files on all domain controllers in the domain,
regardless of what their individual user rights allow them.
Additionally, members of the Backup Operators group can
logon to domain controllers and shut them down.
Guests The Guest group includes the Domain Guests group and
the Guest account by default.
Incoming Forest The members of this group can create one-way
Trust Builders (incoming) forest trusts to the root domain of the
forest tree.
Network Configuration The members of this group can configure
Operators changes to the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP) settings as well as renewing and
releasing Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP) leases on
all domain controllers in the domain.
Performance Monitor The members of this group have the ability to mon
Users itor the performance on all domain controllers in the
domain, both locally and remotely.
Performance Log Users The members of this group can manage the performance
counters, logs, and alerts on all domain controllers in the
Pre-Windows 2000 The members of this group are provided with read-only
Compatible Access access to all user and computer accounts in the domain.
This group provides compatibility with computers run
ning Windows NT 4.0 and earlier.
Print Operators The members of this group can manage printers in the
domain. Print Operators also have the ability to log on
locally to domain controllers in the domain and shut
them down.
Remote Desktop Users The members of this group can remotely logon to
domain controllers in the domain using Remote
Desktop (RDP).
Replicator The Replicators group is a service group that is used to
support directory replication functions and is used by the
File Replication Service (FRS) domain controllers in
the domain.
Server Operators The members of this group can log on locally to domain
controllers. They are allowed to create and delete shared
resources, start and stop specific services, backup and
restore files, format disks, and shut down computers.
