February 19
th. Rosh Hashanah, which is the Jewish New Year, comes at the end of summer. The
Hindus in India celebrate the first day of each season, so they have four New Years. In many
parts of Africa, New Year is the celebration of new water. It comes at the end of the dry season in
May. The new season will bring rain, and thus, life to the land. The people give thanks for the
water, which is to come.
